Who We Are
The Rotary Club of Fredericton North is one of four Rotary Clubs in the greater Fredericton area. The others being Fredericton Sunrise, Changemakers Atlantic and Oromocto. There has been a Rotary Club in Fredericton since 1922.

The Rotary Club of Fredericton North was chartered in 1977 and has been building and strengthening community connections and capacity since then. Our club currently has a membership of around 30 business, professional and community leaders joining the more than 1.2 million Rotarians around the world who are committed to the Rotary motto "Service Above Self.

Rotarians provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the fellowship of members acting both locally and globally. We are people of action. We get together to exchange ideas, enjoy fellowship, decide upon and then put into action the service projects we support. We aim to have fun at the same time!

If you are interested in learning more about us or would like to come to a meeting please contact us  We meet most Thursdays at 12 noon at the Fredericton Inn.

Century of Service Rotary Gala

The Century of Service Rotary Gala, held in 2023, celebrated 100 years of Rotary service in Fredericton.

Ten community leaders (non-Rotarians) were the recipients of the Paul Harris Fellowship, one of the highest honours Rotary can bestow upon a person.

Paul Harris Fellows are community leaders who are recognized for outstanding service, exemplifying Rotary’s guiding principle of Service Above Self. This honour is accompanied by a US$1000 donation in the recipient’s name to The Rotary Foundation, which supports worldwide programs.

Rotary's Start

Rotary started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. He saw Rotary as a force for ethical leadership, civic service, and peace—ideals he would promote throughout his life.

In 1910, the first Canadian club, the Winnipeg Rotary Club, was founded by P.A.C. McIntyre. This was Rotary’s first officially chartered club outside the U.S. and its founding marked Rotary’s transformation from a national to an international organization. To reflect this, the organization changed its name to the International Association of Rotary Clubs. The name Rotary International was adopted in 1922.

Rotary International

Over the years, Rotary International has grown into one of the largest and most successful service organizations in the world. With Service above Self as its motto, members of the 46,000 + Rotary Clubs believe that they have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues,  working together to

  • Promote peace
  • Fight disease
  • Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
  • Save mothers and children
  • Support education
  • Grow local economies
  • Protect the environment
