Melissa Giles is the Director of Development at Ability NB, an organization dedicated to empowering individuals living with a mobility disability in New Brunswick. With 15 years of experience in fund development, including the last five focused on the nonprofit sector, Melissa is deeply committed to advocating for accessibility, inclusion, and independence for people with a mobility disability.
At Ability NB, Melissa is privileged to work alongside a dedicated team that connect individuals and businesses with the resources, services, and community support they need to thrive. She plays a key role in overseeing strategic partnerships, coordinating outreach efforts, and securing funding through major foundation partnerships. Melissa is passionate about raising awareness for Ability NB’s diverse frontline critical programs, as well as the Accessible NB program, Peer Mentorship program, and Para NB-Sport and Recreation. These programs are designed to enhance the quality of life and promote inclusion across the province, all at no cost to participants or businesses, ensuring accessibility for everyone.
Through this presentation, Melissa aims to showcase the meaningful work of Ability NB and emphasize the ongoing need for funding and community support to help expand and improve services for individuals living with a mobility disability. For 68 years, Ability NB has been a vital advocate and resource for those in need, and Melissa is dedicated to continuing that legacy.
