Many many years ago, he served on the Boards of the Fredericton Boys and Girls Club and the Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority.  In retirement, he has been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and Adult Literacy Fredericton.  He has been a tutor and Board member of Adult Literacy Fredericton and is currently serving as its President.

Dan is separated, has three step-sons and four wonderful grandchildren.
