About Our Club
Our Projects
Each year, newly elected presidents determine a focus for the club's projects. They usually do so in concert with past presidents so that the focus may be an extension of past projects or the creation of new ones. For example, the focus might be on youth activities so fundraising for Camp Rotary on Grand Lake and youth scholarships would be the projects of choice. A focus on international projects would be another example involving polio eradication and group study exchange.
A sampling of the projects either just completed or underway by members of the Fredericton North Rotary Club include:
- Adopting a section of H'way 105 and cleaning it of trash.
- Helping as guides to blood donors at Canadian Blood Service clinics.
- Selling bouquets of fresh cut flowers and delivering them directly to recipients.
- Partnering with Fredericton area elementary schools to eradicate polio worldwide.
- Fundraising to eliminate the debt on the Rotary Centennial Lodge at Killarney Lake.
- Supporting the operation of Camp Rotary on Grand Lake for disadvantaged kids.
- Sponsoring Group Study Exchange programs for overseas/local participants.

- Organizing an Adventure in Citizenship program for Fredericton high school students.
- Planting scores of sponsored trees for a "Plant a Tree for the Environment" program.
- Building a picnic shelter to support the City of Fredericton's trails system initiative.

Foundation
The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit with Rotary International and supported by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation. Its mission is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill land peace through the improvement, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty.
Examples include Ambassadorial Scholarships (an international scholarship program to further international understanding among people of different countries and geographical areas); Group Study Exchange (a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for business people and professionals to experience the host country's culture and institutions);and Polio Plus (more than two billion children have received oral polio vaccine to protect them against a crippling muscular disease).
To fund the Rotary Foundation's mission, many millions of dollars are raised every year in the name of Rotarians and non-Rotarians to be recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. (Paul Harris is the founder of Rotary). Recognition can come in many different forms. For example, one way is recognition of exceptional service within a Rotary club or in a local community. Another way, is making a $1,000 contribution in memory of a friend or relative. Yet another is a donation to a specific Rotary Foundation project such as Polio Plus or an Ambassadorial Scholarship.
The Fredericton North Rotary Club currently has 88 Paul Harris Fellows. The latest Fellow is Ronald Forsythe, a recently retired manager of Bell Aliant. He was recognized for his volunteer involvement.
